The short version
- Tolkmeet is a paid monthly subscription, sold through Paddle.
- Plans renew automatically. You can cancel any time, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Changed your mind? Ask for a full refund within 30 days of any payment.
- Translations are made by AI and can be wrong. Check anything important with a qualified person.
- Guests you invite do not need an account, but they use Tolkmeet under these terms too.
1. Who you contract with
Tolkmeet is provided by 휘슬리, a sole proprietorship in the Republic of Korea (“we”, “us”). These terms are a contract between you and 휘슬리. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders.
By creating an account, buying a plan, joining a meeting or continuing to use Tolkmeet, you accept these terms. If you use Tolkmeet for an organization, you confirm you may accept these terms on its behalf.
2. Accounts
You need an account to create meetings, and you must be 16 or over to have one. Guests join from a link without an account. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us at support@tolkmeet.com if you suspect misuse. You are responsible for meetings created from your account, including the guests you let in.
3. Plans and billing
Tolkmeet is a monthly subscription. Basic costs $19 per month and includes 10 translated meeting hours per billing period; Pro costs $39 per month and includes 30 hours. Included hours refill at the start of each billing period (the monthly cycle that starts on the day you subscribed), not on the first day of the calendar month, and unused plan hours do not carry over. Included hours for a billing period become available once that period’s payment completes; if a renewal payment fails, that period’s hours are added once it is paid. You can buy extra hours at $3 per hour; they never expire and stay on your account until you use them.
Prices are in US dollars. Applicable sales tax or VAT is added at checkout by Paddle. Your subscription renews automatically each month and Paddle charges your payment method at the start of each period until you cancel.
You can change plans in Account › Plan & billing. An upgrade takes effect immediately: Paddle charges the price difference for the rest of the current billing period, pro rata, to your saved payment method, and we add the difference in included hours for the rest of that period on the same pro-rata basis. A downgrade also takes effect immediately, with no charge or refund for the current period: you keep the current period’s hours, and your next bill is at the lower price. If your last payment failed, update your payment method before changing plans.
Paddle handles payment, invoices, sales tax and VAT. When you buy, you also agree to Paddle’s buyer terms.
Prices may change. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change would apply to your next renewal. A price increase applies to an existing subscription only if you agree to it; if you do not, your subscription ends at the end of the current paid period and you are not charged the new price.
4. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time in Account › Plan & billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for and does not renew after that.
Deleting your account cancels your subscription automatically (Paddle may take a little while to confirm the cancellation) and removes any unused extra hours. You can still ask for a refund through paddle.net within 30 days of a payment.
You can ask for a full refund of any payment (first payment, renewal or extra hours) within 30 days, for any reason, through Paddle at paddle.net or by emailing billing@tolkmeet.com. Details are in our Refund Policy. This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law where you live.
If the payment for your current billing period (your first payment or a renewal) is refunded in full, including through several partial refunds that add up to the full amount, that subscription ends immediately. If any subscription payment, including an upgrade’s price difference, is charged back, the subscription also ends immediately. Refunding an earlier period’s payment doesn’t end a current period you paid for separately. A partial refund, or a refund of an upgrade’s price difference, keeps your plan; when an upgrade’s price difference is refunded, in full or in part, we remove the extra included hours that upgrade added, in proportion to the amount refunded. If a purchase of extra hours is refunded, we remove the refunded share of those hours from your balance; if you have already used some of them, your balance goes down to zero, not below.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Tolkmeet to:
- break the law, or record or translate people without the consent the law requires
- commit fraud, impersonate others, or send spam or unsolicited invitations
- harass, threaten or harm anyone, or share content that is illegal or exploits children
- infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy rights
- interfere with the security or operation of the service: no malware, probing or scanning for vulnerabilities, scraping, overloading, or getting around limits and access controls
- use the AI translation to produce content that is unlawful, deceptive or designed to cause harm
6. AI translation
Speech recognition and translation are produced automatically by AI (Google Gemini). They can contain errors, omissions or wrong tone. Tolkmeet is not a certified interpreter. For contracts, medical, legal or financial decisions, confirm the meaning with a qualified professional.
You are responsible for what you say in meetings and for how you use the captions and translations, including any decision you make based on them.
7. Your content
What you say in meetings, and the captions made from it, belong to you. You give us only the permission needed to process it for transcription and translation, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not store it.
If you think someone is using Tolkmeet to infringe your rights or to abuse others, write to support@tolkmeet.com. We may act on abuse as described in section 10.
8. Our intellectual property
We own the Tolkmeet service, name, logo and the content we provide, such as the website and app text and design. Tolkmeet’s source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0; that license governs your use of the code. These terms cover the hosted service at tolkmeet.com.
9. Availability
We work to keep Tolkmeet running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on your network, your browser and third-party services such as Google Gemini. If an outage stops you using Tolkmeet for 24 hours or more, we refund the affected part of your plan as set out in the Refund Policy.
10. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time from account settings. This cancels your subscription, as described in section 4.
We may limit, suspend or close an account for a material breach of these terms, non-payment, a security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations, including abuse of the AI translation. We will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents us.
We may also end this agreement without cause with 30 days’ notice. If we do, we refund the unused part of what you prepaid.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Changes to these terms
We post changes on this page and email account holders at least 7 days before they take effect, or at least 30 days before for changes that are unfavourable to you. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change applies. These terms are published in English and Korean; for users in Korea the Korean version prevails, and the English version prevails elsewhere.
13. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without limiting mandatory consumer protections where you live.
